Bharat Tex

Most textile fairs show you one link of the chain. Bharat Tex shows you all of it, from fibre and yarn through fabric to finished garments, home textiles and technical textiles, and a consortium of the textile export councils runs it.

The 2027 dates aren't out yet, so here's what the 2026 edition offered buyers and what to do before the call opens.

An honest caveat up front - the organiser doesn't publish how it picks hosted buyers, so nobody can tell you exactly who gets a funded seat. We can tell you how to make a strong case, though.

Next Edition

It hasn't been announced. The official site says only "Bharat Tex 2027 is coming soon" and asks interested buyers and exhibitors to fill in an enquiry form (bharat-tex.com, read 28 September 2026 (opens in a new tab)). It names no venue or city either, and we won't guess one.

The last edition was the 3rd, 14 to 17 July 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in central New Delhi (Consulate General of India, Milan, read 23 September 2026). Write to the buyer desk at buyerdesk@bharat-tex.com now rather than waiting for dates, since an early, specific email is the best thing you can do today.

Why a Whole-Chain Fair Saves You a Month

A streetwear brand posted in July 2026 that it had visited almost 20 manufacturers in Tiruppur and liked neither the quality nor the price (r/streetwearstartup, 2026 (opens in a new tab)). Twenty visits in one cluster is weeks of work, and it still ended without a supplier.

An Indian exporter explained the trap on another thread - "There is no standard as Tiruppur quality", because tees there start at the very bottom of the market (r/indianstartups, 2024 (opens in a new tab)). The cluster name tells you nothing.

The spec tells you everything - yarn count, combing, finish, GSM and shrinkage. At Bharat Tex you can hold fabric from many mills and garment units side by side in one day, spec in hand, before you commit to a single visit, and that is worth far more than the size of the halls.

Who Exhibits

Because the textile export promotion councils organise it together, the exhibitors cover yarn, fabric, apparel, home textiles and technical textiles. The 2026 edition even ran the 75th India International Garment Fair inside it. Council membership tells you the stand is a registered exporter with a track record.

What it won't tell you is whether a stand spins, weaves, dyes or stitches in its own plant or has partner units do some of it. Both are normal in Indian textile clusters, where job work between units is simply how the industry runs. So ask which steps happen where and which unit would make your order, then check the answers with how to check an Indian supplier.

Hosted-Buyer Terms

The site still mentions a Hosted Overseas Buyer Program but gives no 2027 details. In 2026 hosted buyers were offered up to four hotel nights, transfers and factory visits arranged case by case. Airfare wasn't mentioned, and the organiser picks buyers without publishing its criteria.

So make your case an easy yes. Write to the buyer desk with your category, annual volumes, the markets you sell into and the steps of the chain you want to see, and ask for factory visits in that same email, because in 2026 they were offered only on request.

Visa and Getting There

You'll want the e-Business Visa, applied for at least two weeks ahead, plus an invitation letter from the buyer desk. Travel tips will have to wait until the 2027 venue is announced.
