Importing From India to Liechtenstein
- Updated

Look for Liechtenstein in the world's trade statistics and you'll mostly find nothing. UN Comtrade holds no records with Liechtenstein as the reporting country for 2023 or 2024 (Comtrade API, queried 25 September 2026). Its trade sits inside Switzerland's figures, and that's the whole story of this page.
Liechtenstein is a TEPA party in its own right, but it has no goods schedule of its own. So we'll keep this short and send you to the right place.

1. Follow the Swiss Page
The agreement posts schedules for Iceland, Norway and Switzerland, and none for Liechtenstein. Article 1.3(2) explains why - under their customs union treaty of 29 March 1923, Switzerland represents Liechtenstein in the matters it covers (TEPA main text (opens in a new tab)).
In practice that means the Swiss schedule and the Swiss customs rules. And the big Swiss fact applies too. Switzerland abolished industrial tariffs on 1 January 2024 for every origin, so Indian apparel, leather goods and other industrial products pay no duty, with or without TEPA (BAZG, abolition of industrial tariffs (opens in a new tab)). TEPA matters for food, feed and fish. All of that is on the Switzerland page.
2. The One Open Question
Liechtenstein is in the EEA and Switzerland isn't. So which product rulebook applies to goods you place on the market in Liechtenstein, the EU's or Switzerland's? We haven't confirmed it for the categories our readers buy. Ask the customs office or your broker before you print labels or commission tests.
Next Step
Duty, VAT and food controls are on the Switzerland page. The agreement is on the EFTA bloc page.
