India Sporting Goods Fair

The India Sporting Goods Fair is the sports goods export council's show. It's small, with about a hundred member exporters, and the international buyer time is short, so plan it as a focused visit. The caveat - the organiser's site doesn't publish hosted-buyer terms, so assume you're paying your own way.

Who exhibits

SGEPC, the Sports Goods Export Promotion Council, organises it, and over 100 member exporters show. Expect Jalandhar and Meerut, India's two sports goods towns: cricket bats and balls, hockey sticks, footballs, protective gear, fitness equipment and team kit.

Membership means a registered exporter with a track record. It doesn't mean the exhibitor stitches the balls or presses the bats. Members include merchant exporters and makers who send stitching or finishing to smaller units, which is normal in this trade. Ask who makes each line you want, and where.

Hosted-buyer terms

Not published. SGEPC has targeted about 200 overseas buyers, but we found no hosted package terms as of September 2026.

Visa

Use the e-Business Visa and apply at least two weeks ahead. Ask the organiser for an invitation letter.

Getting there

Yashobhoomi is in Dwarka, on the airport side of New Delhi, so it's an easy hop from your flight and a long drive from the central hotels. Stay nearby if you can.

What to expect

A compact show. Come with a shortlist and your specs, because a hundred stands go fast when you know what you want.

For bats, the grade is where claims get loose. Buyers on forums say sellers call "every bat grade 1" and pass Kashmir willow off as English willow, and they check grain count, colour and knots to tell (r/Cricket, 2025 (opens in a new tab)). Kashmir willow isn't a bad thing (UK players call it fine for juniors and casual play at a lower price), but it should be sold as what it is. Ask each maker how it grades willow and what grain range it puts in each grade.

Know your competition too. Some foreign buyers see Sialkot in Pakistan as the factory-direct alternative for bats and leather gear, and practitioners place most combat-sports gloves there (buyers on forums, 2023 to 2025). If a Jalandhar or Meerut maker can beat that on finish and consistency, the fair is where it will show you.

Back to that 105 g surprise. Write weight tolerance, willow grade and grain range into the order, and weigh a sample on arrival.
