Trade fair

Indusfood

Indusfood is the Indian food fair built for people like you, the importers. It's a closed-door show run by the Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI), and only pre-approved buyers get in. When food importers ask us about AAHAR, this is where we send them instead.

One honest caveat - the screening that keeps the hall full of real buyers also screens you. You'll need to show you're an importer before you get a badge.

Who exhibits

TPCI runs all three editions. The main January show claims 2,200 or more exhibitors and 20 or more country pavilions (TPCI, read 28 September 2026), across processed food, staples, beverages and ingredients. The two regional editions are much smaller and lean to their own region's producers.

A stand doesn't tell you whether the company processes the goods or trades them. Both are normal in Indian food. What you need to know is which plant makes your product and who holds the food-safety certificates for that plant, because that's the site your regulator will care about.

Hosted-buyer terms

As published by TPCI in September 2026 -

  • Support: "all or some" of airfare reimbursement, hotel stay and airport and venue transfers, confirmed by email per buyer.
  • Application: a paid application, refunded in full if you're not selected. Check the current amount with TPCI before you apply.
  • Screening: a committee reviews each application.

Visa

Use the e-Business Visa. Apply at least two weeks ahead, and ask TPCI for an invitation letter once you're approved.

Getting there

The main edition is at India Expo Centre & Mart in Knowledge Park II, Greater Noida, a drive from Delhi, and the venue says it's linked to Delhi NCR by metro. BIEC is on Tumkur Road in Bengaluru, with Namma Metro close by. The Ahmedabad edition is at the Helipad Exhibition Centre, Sector 17, Gandhinagar (organiser and venue sites, read September 2026).

What to expect

Pre-set meetings, not wandering. Because every buyer is screened, exhibitors come ready to talk export terms, and your days fill with scheduled meetings. Bring your import licences and last year's purchase volumes to the application. They get you past the committee, and they make the meetings sharper too.

Do one thing before you fly. Look up how your product fails at your own border. Indian spices, for example, fail the EU mostly on pesticide residues and the US mostly on Salmonella, so the question you ask at a stand depends on where you sell (quality control in India has the numbers).

Past editions

  • 2026: held in January at India Expo Centre & Mart. TPCI's buyers page shows its highlights but not its dates (read September 2026).
